Christopher Steven “Chris” Barto, 76, of Shell Knob, Mo. passed away Tuesday, May 5, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Springfield in Springfield, Mo.

He was born January 21, 1950 in Wood, Pa., the son of Roy W. and Emma Mary (Shultz) Barto. 

Preceding him in death were his parents and 13 siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Kristine; one brother, Richard Barto and his wife Letty of West Grove, Pa., and two sisters, Judy Kutz and her husband Ronald of Carlisle, Pa., and Della Robinson of Chesapeake Bay, Va.

After high school, he continued his education at Shippensburg University where he received a bachelor’s degree. During his career he managed a grocery store in Mifflintown, Pa., for 14 years. He was a member of United Methodist Church in Shell Knob.

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
