Wildcats go 1-3 at home tourney

The Cassville baseball team wrapped up Cassville Classic tournament play last week with a 1-3 record, highlighted by a hard-fought 7-5 win over Mt. Vernon. The group also battled in a tough 5-4 loss to East Newton, a game that came down to the final moments. “While the results against Bolivar and Lebanon didn’t reflect the team’s full potential, the tournament provided valuable opportunities for growth, both on the field and in our character in regards to how we respond to adversity,” said Simon Beeson, Wildcats baseball coach. “Defensively and on the mound, there are still areas to clean up, but the coaching staff has been encouraged by steady improvement at the plate, with more competitive at-bats each day. Despite working through a few lingering injuries to key players, the team has remained focused on developing both character and consistency in their process. With continued emphasis on those foundations, the team and coaching staff believe that the results will follow as the season progresses.”
