Woman charged for hitting pedestrian while drunk


Warrant issued March 20, bond set at $100,000 cash

An Oklahoma woman is facing a felony charge after allegedly striking a pedestrian while driving under the influence, causing injuries the victim did not survive.

Jordan Arevalo, 27, of Stillwell, Okla., is charged with DWI – death of another not a passenger and misdemeanor failure to maintain financial responsibility.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Cpl. B. Vaught, with the Missouri State Highway Patrol, on Aug. 23, 2025, Vaught investigated a single-vehicle crash involving a pedestrian on Route J in Barry County. The pedestrian as transported for serious injuries sustained in the crash.

Arevalo was identified as the alleged driver of the vehicle and was the sole occupant at the time of the incident. Vaught alleged in the statement her speech was slurred, she had watery and glassy eyes, swayed while walking and standing, and had a strong odor of intoxicants coming from her breath.

Vaught administered a preliminary breath test, which indicated Arevalo was allegedly over 0.08% BAC. She was arrested for driving while intoxicated and transported to the Barry County jail, where an Intox DMT test allegedly returned a BAC result of 0.142. She was held in the jail on a 12-hour hold.

On Sept. 8, at 7:03 p.m., the pedestrian was pronounced deceased due to injuries sustained in the crash.

A warrant was issued for Arevalo’s arrest on March 20, and her bond has been set at $100,000, cash only.

A citation was issued at the time of the incident, with a court date set for Nov. 6, 2025. That charge does not appear on Casenet.
