3 boys win titles, Winchell voted Wrestler of the Year

The Cassville boys and girls wrestling teams posted impressive showings at their respective Big 8 Conference Tournaments, reeling in a total of 16 top-three finishes.

The Wildcats took second place as a team at the tournament in McDonald County, boastig three champions: Rylen Holman at 126 pounds, Colton Roark at 175 pounds and Ethan Sizemore at 285 pounds. Holman pinned his way through the bracket, as did Roark aside from one medical forfeit. Sizemore earned a decision in the first round, two pins and a decision in the final round to take the top heavyweight spot.

Additional top-three finishers for the boys included: second place, Boni Lopez at 106 pounds, Braydyn Sizemore at 150 pounds and Riley James at 190 pounds; third place, Michael Winchell at 120 pounds, Kole Fry at 132 pounds, Kellen Weldy at 138 pounds and Zachary Myers at 215 pounds.

The Lady Wildcats hosted the Big 8 Tournament and took third place as a team with two champions. Isabella Bauman, at 100 pounds, pinned both her opponents to take top honors, and Analeigh Winchell, at 155 pounds, pinned three opponents to take first.

Winchell was also voted Big 8 Wrestler of the Year for her performance.

Cassville also received strong runner-up finishes from Allison Deaver at 105 pounds, Gracey Farsungchin at 120 pounds and Estrella Garcia at 140 pounds. Myah Dunfee placed third at 130 pounds, while additional team points came from placements by Hopelyne Thompson at 125 pounds, Molly Pickett at 135 pounds and Alexis Lands at 170 pounds.

The Wildcats and Lady Wildcats next dual against Monett on Thursday.
