Wildcats start season 2-3

The Cassville boys basketball team has started the season at 2-3 and played its first home game this week. At the Strafford Invitational Tournament, the Wildcats fell to Seymour, 70-38, then topped Buffalo, 56-49, before falling to Willow Springs, 69-46. Last week, Cassville split games with a loss to Clever, 57-42, and a win over Reeds Spring, 52-44. The Wildcats hosted Springfield Catholic in the home opener on Tuesday, with the result not available at presstime. They host Diamond on Thursday.

Lady Wildcats off to winning start

The Cassville girls basketball team has started the season at 4-2, including an overtime win at home. The Lady Wildcats opened the season against Branson with a 68-45 loss. Cassville then took second place at the 6th Annual Crane Lady Pirates Invitational, defeating Hollister, 66-30, and Crane, 54-30, before falling in the championship bout to Norwood, 47-35. Last week, the Lady Wildcats won an overtime thriller over Reeds Spring, 57-52, then bested Blue Eye on the road, 50-31. Cassville hosted Hollister on Monday, with the result not available at presstime, and travels to Diamond on Thursday.
