Second pot shop burglary suspect identified

A warrant has been issued for a Cassville teenager, the second suspect in an alleged burglary at a Cassville business on June 16.

Waylon Morgan, born in 2006, of Cassville, is charged with second-degree burglary, first degree property damage and resisting arrest.

According to a probable cause statement filed by Officer Codie Evatt, with the Cassville Police Department, on June 16 at about 12:26 a.m., officers were dispatched to a business within the city limits of Cassville in response to a burglary in progress.

Once on scene, Evatt observed two subjects running away from the business. Evatt was able to catch one individual, identified as Jeremiah Williams, who in an interview allegedly said Morgan was the other suspect.

Surveillance footage from the business provided to police allegedly showed Morgan and Williams throwing a rock through the business’ window. Morgan was then allegedly seen sitting inside the window frame about to make entry into the business, then jumped out and exited the camera view.

The window damaged is valued at approximately $1,000.

The warrant for Morgan comes with a cash-only bond of $10,000.

Williams was arrested with a bond of $7,500, cash only. On Thursday, the bond was reduced to $5,000, 10% or surety, and Williams was released from the Barry County jail.

A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 4 at 1 p.m. in the courtroom of Judge Robert Foulke.
