Jig On the Water, June 15

Roaring River’s water level is not bad right now, still producing a good strong flow — but clear — running at 125 CFS on Sunday morning.
Rooster tails with a bit of flash in them did very well this last week.
Marabou jigs are working better every day, and anglers can now sight fish most of the river. When the CFS drops below 100, the fishing gets better and better every day.
Black/yellow, black, olive, and tan jigs were all working this weekend. Spoons are still working well, in the deeper holes.
Fly fishing is getting better, and there’s decent dry fly fishing now with caddis, blue wing olives, crackle backs, beetles and griffiths gnats.
Good nymphs right now are pheasant tails, hares ears, copper johns, black zebra midges, scuds and sow bugs. Black buggers were good all week, as were olive buggers.
San Juan worms, chamois worms and Glo balls were all good, as were cream, orange and chartreuse mop flies.
Two- or 3-pound line is the best choice for line right now. We are using 9’6X and 7X leaders mostly right now, and still using 5X leaders for buggers and bigger streamers.
Good luck this week!
