‘Color Your World’ at the library this summer

Get ready to unleash the inner artist and dive into a summer of reading and creativity!

The Barry-Lawrence Regional Library has announced its annual Summer Reading Challenge (SRC), kicking off on June 2 at all nine branch locations. This year’s theme, “Color Your World,” promises a vibrant array of programs and prizes designed to inspire imagination and foster a love of reading for all ages.

The Summer Reading Challenge encourages individuals and families to explore the transforming power of knowledge through engaging activities and reading goals. From June 2 to Aug. 2, library branches will feature a diverse schedule of art, craft, and creativity-focused programs. Participants will have the chance to express themselves through various artistic mediums and discover new talents, all while working towards exciting prizes.

“We believe the Summer Reading Challenge is one of the best ways the BLRL connects people to the transforming power of knowledge,” said Janea Coker, Program Coordinator for the Library District. She continues; “This summer, we’re inviting everyone to ‘Color Your World’ by exploring new books and getting creative with us. You’ll not only win great prizes for meeting your reading goals, but you’ll also be helping ‘Color Our World’ with your participation and enthusiasm for learning.”

To kickstart the fun, every person who registers for the Summer Reading Challenge starting June 2 will receive a creative prize pack of selected arts and craft supplies as a thank you for helping to “Color Our World.”

Participants should ask library staff about the registration prize when signing up. All prizes are while supplies last.

“The Barry-Lawrence Regional Library’s Summer Reading Challenge is a fantastic opportunity for the entire family to engage with their local library, discover new passions, and make lasting memories,” a BLRL press release said. “Join us this summer and let’s ‘Color Our World’ together!”
