On a weekend unofficially hailed as the start of summer, Barry County is predicted to be inundated with rain.
According to the National Weather Service, bands of heavy rain will move through the area Friday night into Saturday morning, Saturday night into Sunday morning and Sunday night into Monday morning, delivering a predicted 6-8 inches of total rainfall.
Flooding is the main concern due to ground saturation and elevated streamflows, and there is marginal risk for high winds and hail.
Using experimental river modeling for the storm, intended for guidance and not as an official forecast, Roaring River is expected to peak in the early hours Monday morning at 2,780-5,220 cfs, putting it above the 3.2-foot flood stage.
The Weather services advises those traveling or enjoying outdoor activities stay weather-aware throughout the weekend.
