City hires PW director
The city of Cassville has announced the appointment of Mike Hagins as the new Director of Public Works.
A longtime Cassville resident and 1999 graduate of Cassville High School, Hagins brings over a decade of hands-on experience and leadership in city operations to the position.
Hagins began his service with the City of Cassville in 2013 as a meter reader in the Water Department, where he earned his DSII Water Distribution Certification and received training in water leak detection.
In 2017, he transitioned to the Wastewater Department, eventually becoming the Chief Wastewater Operator. Hagins currently holds a Class A Wastewater Certification.
“His leadership helped the city maintain compliance with DNR and EPA standards, while fostering a team environment focused on service, accountability, and continuous improvement,” said Richard Asbill, Cassville city administrator. “Mike is a proven leader who knows this community, understands our infrastructure, and has earned the respect of his team and our citizens. His commitment to Cassville and its long-term success makes him an excellent choice to lead our Public Works Department.”
As Public Works Director, Hagins will oversee a broad range of city infrastructure services, including water, wastewater, parks, streets, and stormwater management. His stated goals include building stronger regional partnerships and ensuring a responsive, efficient public works team that serves the needs of Cassville residents.
“I took this role because I live here, work here, and care about our community,” Hagins said. “I’m proud of the work our team has done, and I look forward to continuing that work as we improve and invest in our city’s infrastructure.”
Hagins and his wife, Monzell, his high school sweetheart, have been married for 26 years. Together, they have three children — two Cassville High School graduates and one soon to graduate — as well as one grandson.
