Roadrunner on the track

Cassville senior Makaiden Bolles hopes to emulate her new team mascot in the fall, as she has signed to run track for State Fair Community College in Sedalia in the fall.
The Roadrunners’ program, Bolles said, was half of her decision to sign, the other half focused on academics.
“They have a sonography (ultrasound) program, and they offered me a track scholarship,” she said.
Bolles plans to run the 4×100 and 4×200 relays for the Sedalia community college. In her junior year, the Lady Wildcats’ 4×100 relay team of Bolles, Brynn Whittenburg, Claire Reuter and Evelyn Elliott took fourth place at districts and eighth at sectionals. This year, with Brylee Gross instead of Reuter, the relay team is aiming to qualify for districts and state.
Bolles said when it comes to the fall, she’s excited to have new experiences.
“I’m most excited to go experience more since it’s so far away,” she said.
In her years running track, Bolles said qualifying for sectionals last year was her greatest memory, so far.
She advised underclassmen to keep their heads up and their eyes on the prize to find success. “Don’t let the negative people bring you down,” she said. “That’s something I have had to overcome.”
Bolles is the daughter of Carlee Williams and Cody Bolles. She plans to major in sonography.
