The Cassville boys wrestling team competed Dec. 20-21 at the Harrisonville Christmas Tournament, with 165-pounder Tristan Thompson earning the best overall placement.

Thompson (8-1) earned two pins and three technical falls before meeting Marlow’s Clint Ladon in the championship, falling 20-11 in a major decision.

In other results, 157-pounder Riley James took third place, recovering from a semifinal loss with a 13-6 decision over Harrisonville’s Cooper Elifrits. At 175 pounds, Colton Roark also recovered from a semifinal pin with a fall over Carthage’s Latrell Abbasi in 1:21. Both James and Roark fell in semifinal action to Helias Catholic wrestlers.

Rounding out Wildcats who finished in the top three was Zach Myers at 190 pounds. After being pinned in the semifinal, Myers won the third-place bout by injury default in 4:26.

As a team, Cassville finished in fifth place. Helias won the team trophy handedly.

Cassville wrestles next in the Diamond State Duals in Arkansas Friday and Saturday.
