Winchell pins way to gold medal

The Cassville girls wrestling team competed Dec. 20-21 at the Lady Mustangs Christmas Clash, with one Lady Wildcat rising to the top of the podium.

Analeigh Winchell (14-1) pinned her way to the 170-pound title in the event. Winchell earned falls over six opponents in a row, with none of the matches lasting more than a minute. In the championship match, Winchell earned a fall over Southeast Polk’s Josie Bishop in 4:34.

In other results, Riley Stumpff (5-4) finished in fourth place at 100 pounds, and Rebekah Fry (11-3) also finished fourth.

As a team, Cassville took seventh place.Southeast Polk took first in team scoring.

Cassville wrestles next in the Diamond State Girls Invitational in Arkansas Friday and Saturday.
