HARLEY JOHNSON

Harley Gene Johnson, 84, of Pierce City, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2022.

He was born in Cassville, on Aug. 4, 1937, son of Samuel and Lena (Wierman) Johnson. He married Rose Ann Jarvis on Oct. 6, 1959, in Lucerne, Calif. He owned HG Johnson Wood Product in Pierce City. Harley had a life-long career in the lumber industry, working in logging, sawmilling, and architectural millwork.

One of his life-long passions was music. He was self-taught on the fiddle and mandolin and enjoyed playing with other musicians. He competed in fiddling contests and was the MC and performed at a local hootenanny in his younger days.

Survivors include: his wife, Rose Ann Johnson of the home; three sons, Mike (Yuksel) Johnson of Tulsa, Okla., Kevin (Mileigh) Johnson of Pierce City, and Mark Johnson of Wentworth; two daughters, Marie (Jerry) Elbert of Lorena, Texas and Valerie (Danny) Greenwell of Vine Grove, Ky.; two brothers, Jim Johnson of Wentworth, and Sam Johnson of Fayetteville, Ark.; two sisters, Lowee Benjamin of Ukiah, Calif., and Mary Elliott of Ukiah, Calif.; 10 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Samuel and Lena Johnson; two sons, James Johnson and Darrell Johnson; and a daughter-in-law, Laura Johnson.

Services will be at Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, on Wednesday, June 29, beginning at 10 a.m. with Dr. Steve Dennis officiating. Burial will follow at the Pierce City Cemetery.
