Pollreisz promoted to head coach
Cassville native Levi Pollreisz has been promoted from assistant to Culver-Stockton College head women’s volleyball coach, announced recently by Athletic Director Pat Atwell. “We are excited to promote Levi to the position of head women’s volleyball coach,” Atwell said.
4 venues chosen to host championships
At its regularly scheduled meeting, the Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) Board of Directors discussed a number of proposals submitted by entities hoping to host championships in the sports of basketball, cross country, volleyball and wrestling, and the activity of music.

Garcia, Hughes named to Class 2 Second Team
The Purdy baseball team next spring will have something only one other Class 2 team in the state will have — two returning All-State players. Junior infielder Ezequiel Garcia and junior outfielder Travis Hughes were named to the Class 2 Second Team.

Dayton Moore has always been a vocal opponent of purposefully tanking a season for his Kansas City Royals. The former general manager, who is now the team’s president, has refused to sell off his roster in order to have the worst record and nab the top pick in the following summer’s Major League Baseball draft.

Purdy aims to return to district championship
Coming into this season the defending Class 1 state champion, expectations for the Purdy softball team were high, even though the Lady Eagles were young. A 16-8 season, falling to Miller in the district semifinals, 12-11, was not exactly how Coach Lori Videmschek had things drawn up, but it was not a disappointment.

Fastest Wildcats sprint on Sports Day
Cassville primary and intermediate schools held their annual Sports Day on May 13. After a fun day of various field events, races and water activities, students competed to earn the title of “Fastest Wildcat.”
Huddleston to take over Cassville volleyball
The Cassville volleyball program has a new coach at the helm, one who is no stranger to the Big 8 Conference. Paige Huddleston was a three-sport athlete for the Aurora Houn’ Dawgs before she made her college volleyball debut.

Bulldogs brace for 2023 season
Looking back at a two-win season, the Wheaton baseball team is focusing on the positives, and there were plenty. Tucker Dermott, Wheaton baseball coach said the Bulldogs (2-16) had some close conference games that did not go their way, and many extremely competitive games overall.

Golf team donates to Pantry
The Cassville High School Golf program has made a donation of nearly $500 to the Cassville Food Pantry. CHS golfers earned the money at the “charity hole” during the team’s annual golf tournament that was held on April 30. “I’m grateful to work with these kids who willingly gave up part of their weekend to help others,” said Jay Rogers, Cassville head golf coach. “Thanks to the generosity of so many participants in our tournament, we were able to make the largest contribution we’ve ever made.” From left: Andrew Gray, Ean Pryor, Rogers, Chaney Cox, Janet Mills with the food pantry and Avery Chappell.
