The most decorated golfer in Cassville history wrapped up her career in the fall with a third straight state medal, and she will tee off next fall aiming to win more hardware for another school with a big cat mascot. On Nov.

Southwest High School will start the basketball season with its annual Tipoff celebration on Friday with a home game against Exeter. Goal achieved!
Every summer, prep fall sports teams set their goals for the season, but not many achieve those goals in the same fashion as the Cassville softball team — making history. The Lady Wildcats finished the season at 16-15 and Class 3, District 6 champions after a 7-6 walk-off win over Doniphan.

‘Cats close season at 6-5
It was not the scoreline Cassville had hoped for on Friday, but the Wildcats hope to take experience gained this season into 2024, having finished at 6-5 with a postseason win and a district semifinal loss to Seneca, 48-0.
Purdy volleyball building culture
The Purdy volleyball team, under a new coach this year, exceeded its combined win total over the last two years and is building a culture for future success. Barry Wheeler, Purdy volleyball coach, said the team was a win short of its main team goal, reaching the district semifinals.

Cassville had five runners compete in the MSHSAA Class 3 State XC Championships 2023 at Gans Creek Cross Country in Columbia on Saturday. For the boys, senior Ethan Bohmke finished 117th with a time of 17:58, freshman Trever Garnett finished 123rd with a time of 18:05, and freshman Michael Tolbert finished 133rd with a time of 18:16.

‘Cats preps for Seneca after win over Aurora
The Cassville football team extended its win streak over Aurora to 21 in the last 19 years with a 24-14 victory over the Houn’ Dawgs in Friday’s Class 3, District 6 quarterfinals, and the biggest test of the season now awaits the Wildcats in the semifinals.

The Cassville boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Lamar Saturday to compete in the Class 3, District 2 meet. Despite the chilly and rainy weather, every runner recorded a personal best.
