From struggle to success
David Williams, Success Program coordinator, knows there’s a stigma regarding alternative high schools, but in Cassville, it could not be further form the truth. Now with two active programs, the Success Lab and the Success Academy, the Success Program at Cassville aims to provide students that have fallen behind in classes, for one reason or another, the opportunity to catch up and graduate on time.

Man charged for knife-point robbery
A Barry County man has been arrested and charged with three felonies in relation to an alleged knife-point robbery in Purdy. Rene Castillo 36, of Barry County, is charged with attempted robbery, armed criminal action and resisting arrest.

Area sales tax rebounds for big gains
After a lackluster showing in July and a big drop in Barry County municipal receipts in June, sales tax income to bi-county government entities rebounded with big numbers in August, reasserting the general upward trend since seen the start of the COVID pandemic discouraged travel. On top of that, the Missouri Department of Revenue at the end of the month sent out six months worth of interest collected on sales tax deposits between monthly distributions.
Washburn pair killed in traffic collision
Two Washburn residents and a Powell resident died on Tuesday in a wreck at 9:35 p.m. on Highway 71 near Brush Creek Road in Pineville in McDonald County.
WOW School scheduled at Roaring River State Park
People can now plan to attend the 25th annual WOW National Outdoor Recreation and Conservation School at Roaring River State Park. WOW Schools are weekend programs designed to teach families how to enjoy a wide range of outdoor recreation activities while practicing personal safety and outdoor responsibility.
