A Community Yard Sale is scheduled for Saturday beginning at 8 a.m. at Cassville High School, with proceeds from the event benefitting seniors taking a trip to Europe this summer.

Wastewater project set to begin this week
The city of Cassville’s overhaul of its sanitary sewer system is underway, beginning with open trench excavations on 11th Street. David Brock, Cassville public works director, said excavations were expected to begin the week of April 10, beginning at 11th and Fair streets, continuing northwest on 11th Street to Main Street (Business Highway 37).

Golden Pioneer Museum open for season
Winfred Prier, owner of Ball & Prier Tire in Golden, made a 56-year career out of tire sales until his retirement some 10 years ago. However, the Golden Pioneer Museum, which he also owns, was in the works long before he began selling tires, even though he didn’t realize it at the time.
Legislators urge Fertilizer Control Board to take action
In an April 4 letter addressed to the director and members of the Missouri Fertilizer Control Board (MoFCB), six Missouri legislators — including two representing Barry County — urged the MoFCB to reconsider the practice of issuing fertilizer permits on behalf of the state’s fertilizer control program (FCP) for materials containing sludge, biosolids or other process wastes intended for land-application.

Cassville board sees seat change
Two incumbents and a former board member won seats on the Cassville School Board in the April 4 election. Of the 2,927 votes cast across 11 precincts, incumbent Dr.

Garden Sass Farmer’s Market opens
Cherie Love, center, owner of Herbal Creations, was a vendor at the Garden Sass Farmers Market on the Cassville Square on April 1. The Garden Sass Farmers Market opened for the season with some nine vendors, including a food truck, Saturday morning on the Cassville Square. Although many of the vendors were regulars, three vendors reported that it was their first time in attendance, and that they look forward to participating all season. ‘Mission Possible’ takes the stage
The Shell Knob in The Spotlight (SKITS) community theater group is working diligently crafting their respective roles for yet another comedy classic, “Mission Possible,” to be presented April 28-30 at the Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob. This play, superbly penned by playwright Craig Sadario, and admirably directed by Cade Keeton, of Cassville, brings together a cast of 21 colorful characters in a hilarious comedy spoof of all the favorite television and film spies.
Patriotic “Pops in the Park’ concert coming
The Ozark Festival Orchestra, based in Monett, will conclude its 2022-23 season with its annual Marty Beckwith Memorial Pops in the Park concert, slated for April 16 at the Monett City Park Casino, located east of the park entrance at Highways 37 and 60. The concert is a benefit for the orchestra to help raise funds to cover annual expenses.
