Work on new Fuller Center house every Saturday
At the Gilmore house at 8th and Scott Streets in Monett, 51 volunteers from churches, businesses and the Monett Area fuller Center for Housing Board of Directors, plus the Kevin and Amanda Gilmore family and their friends, have been working every Saturday morning on building a new home. Work began with the groundbreaking ceremony on July 9. Volunteers are welcome to show up at 7 a.m. each Saturday to lend a hand. Lunch is usually served at 11:30 a.m., when work for the day is completed.
Marriage problems addressed at Stake workshop
In mid-July, the Monett Missouri Stake, which covers eight counties in southwestern Missouri, sponsored a Marriage Workshop at the Monett Stake Center, which was attended by over 60 persons from across the Stake.
Monett church celebration draws 130
More than 130 people attended the celebration of Monett’s 50-year mark of becoming a congregation in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

Monett Area Workshop celebrates employees
The Monett Area Workshop, now in its fourth year as part of SWI (Springfield Workshop Inc.) Industrial Solutions, recently celebrated its annual Employee Appreciation Day. Employees now number 63, almost three times the number from when SWI took over. Director Rob Walker stressed many whose families thought they could not work now have jobs. “Let us decide,” he said, encouraging persons with disabilities to visit at 204 S. Central in Monett. Employees had burgers as their meal of choice and received certificates for their years of service. Walker, standing, presented a certificate to Kimmie Davis of Monett, who has been employed at the Workshop for 46 years. “Companies understand you are valuable,” Walker told the workers. “Companies count on you. You are the best workshop in the state.”

The Southwest Missouri Wild Game Feed will host a hunter education skills class from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Tom Wolfe Memorial VFW Post.

Cubs maul Indians
It was an embarrassment of riches for the Monett football team (1-1), as the Cubs roared to a 70-0 victory over Strafford (0-2) on Friday.

Police policies queried following ICE arrest
The Monett Police Department (MPD) is trying out a new tactic to aid in the apprehension of lawbreakers: posting their mugshots on the Monett Police Department’s Facebook page.

The 2025 summer meetings of the Monett School Board saw discussion on facility and staff updates prior to the upcoming school year.
