2 teachers receive scholarships
The Cassville Board of Education has selected Kaylyn Whitham and Calista Burns as the recipients of the 2025 Board of Education Scholarships.

Middle school students bag 54 Big 8 awards
Cassville Middle School art students who competed at the Big 8 Art Show earned a total of 54 awards, including 18 first places, 20 second places and 16 third places. CMS art is taught by Mrs. Cindy McCullah.

$4K in grants awarded to teachers
Six grants totaling nearly $4,000 from the Cassville Education Fund were awarded to teachers on May 15 at the Cassville Performing Arts Center.

Purdy FFA members get state recognition
Purdy FFA members Will Henderson, Rosa Schad, Marlene Villa, Carter Keeling, and Brooklyn Bunch earned their State FFA Degree, one of the highest honors the Missouri FFA Association bestows on its members.

Southwest FFA soils team takes 2nd in nation
The Southwest FFA soils team competed May 1 in Oklahoma City, representing the state of Missouri in the annual National Land Contest. More than 700 students representing their states competed.

Conservation employee named Friend of Education
During the Cassville Community Teachers (CCTA) Celebration, Cassville schools presented the Friend of Education Award to Jordan Poe of the Missouri Department of Conservation.

Purdy students Shine at MSSU Media Showcase
Students taking classes in business technology, multimedia, and yearbook were invited to submit their work to the annual Southern Media Showcase hosted by Missouri Southern State University on April 16. This competition draws students from large schools all over Southwest Missouri, including Joplin, Webb City, Carthage and Nixa.

Cassville sends 11 to state speech and debate
Cassville Speech and Debate won big at districts this year, placing second overall as a team. Cassville medaled in 18 events, and 11 of those go to state. The following students are going to state:

Elks Lodge announces contest winners
The Elks Lodge 1042 in Holiday Island, Ark., has announced that three Cassville Intermediate students have placed in the top three entries for the Grand Lodge Americanism Essay Contest. Addison Myers finished in first place, Arianna Melchor earned second place and Jaelyn Cavness placed third. Students were asked to complete an essay answering the question, “What does patriotism mean to me.”
