Denny Leroy Owens, Sr., 73, of Aurora, Mo., passed away Thursday, October 1, 2026.

He was born June 11, 1953 in Orville, Calif., the son of Arles and Ivy (Horn) Owens, who preceded him in death. 

Also preceding him in death was his son, Ethan Owens; siblings, Ray Owens, Carol Smith, and Kay Veach.

Survivors include his wife Joanne Brown; his sons, Denny Owens, Jr. and wife Amy of Greenfield, Mo. and Shilo Owens of Aurora, Mo.; daughter, Mya Owens of Aurora, Mo.; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; siblings, Joyce Lane of Okla., Don Owens and wife Lisa of Ark., Jeanie Peden and husband Billy of Green Forest, Ark., Penny Ackerman and husband John of Republic, Mo., Gary Owens and wife Theda of Aurora, Mo., Donna Bricker and husband Jack of Aurora, Mo., and Margaret Koehler and husband Ernest of Verona, Mo., as well as other extended family that include aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

He lived most of his life in Aurora, Mo., where he also attended school. He worked in construction as a backhoe operator, digging many graves throughout Barry and Lawrence Counties. He also worked as a truck driver.

He attended Pleasant Ridge Baptist Church. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, October 8, 2026 at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Reverend Tony Martin will conduct the services. Burial will be at Sparks Cemetery in Butterfield, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 1:00 P.M. until service time Thursday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
