Dear Editor:

It was a Saturday, and not just any Saturday — it was a Labor Day weekend, with the kind of heat outside that seemed almost unbearable. 

The sun was beating down, and the air was thick and hot. Family had come to help with a fix, but before long, the job turned into something much bigger than anyone expected.

The air conditioner needed to be fixed, but there was a problem: they didn’t have the parts they needed. They didn’t even have the right tools for the job. What should have been a simple task suddenly became seemingly impossible.

They went into town searching for the parts they needed, but store after store had nothing that would work.

At that point, there wasn’t much left to do but pray. We asked God for guidance.

“Lord, please show us where to go. Please help us find what we need.”

Sometimes God answers prayers in ways we never expect.

They walked into another store, still not finding the parts they needed. But outside, something caught their attention — a work truck belonging to Speer Heating and Air Company. 

It seemed like just a coincidence. But when you’re asking God for help, sometimes what looks like a coincidence is the beginning of an answered prayer.

They approached the workers and asked if they could help. Without hesitation they had offered to come out as soon as finishing their first job  

In the middle of the scorching heat, when it would have been easy for someone to say, “There’s nothing we can do,” the workers showed up.

And when they looked at the air conditioner, they discovered something else: the previous people who had worked on it had not installed everything correctly. The job wasn’t simply going to require a quick repair. They had to redo the whole thing.

In the hottest part of the day, they worked through the heat, taking everything apart and putting it back together the right way. Finally, after all that work, the air conditioning was running again.

And then came another surprise. After everything they had done, they only charged $150. It was a blessing when the situation had seemed like it was going to become a disaster.

But God wasn’t finished yet. The very next night, the air conditioner stopped working again.

It would have been easy to become discouraged. After everything that had happened, after all the heat and all the work, the problem was still there. 

But they showed up the next day. He tore the system apart again, searching for the problem. He worked on it, tried to figure out what had gone wrong.

They put everything back together, worked through the problem, and finally got the air conditioner fixed. After the third time showing up for us   What started as a Saturday with no parts, no proper tools, scorching heat, and seemingly no way forward became a testimony of perseverance, kindness, and God’s provision.

The miracle wasn’t necessarily that everything happened easily. The miracle was that every time another obstacle appeared, another door opened.

When they didn’t have the right tools, God provided people who had them. When the first repair didn’t hold, God provided another opportunity to fix it. Sometimes we pray for God to remove the mountain.

But sometimes God answers by giving us strength to climb it — and placing the right people along the way.

That Saturday became more than an air-conditioning repair. It became a reminder that God is present in the details.

He can provide when we don’t see a way. He can send help from places we never expected. He can turn an ordinary work truck in a parking lot into an answer to prayer. And He can use ordinary people to do extraordinary things.

The air conditioner was eventually fixed. But the greater lesson was already clear: When you don’t know where to go, ask God for guidance. When you don’t know how it will work out, trust Him. And when every door seems closed, remember that God can open a door you never even knew was there.

What looked like a frustrating weekend became a testimony. And what looked impossible became another reminder that God is still working miracles in the lives of His people.
