Cassville man dies in sidewipe wreck

Collision causes vehicle to overturn, driver ejected

A Cassville man died in a wreck at 8:20 p.m. on May 25 on Farm Road 2020, one mile south of Cassville.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a westbound 1995 Jeep Cherokee, being driven by a 69-year-old Cassville man, and an eastbound 2008 Chrysler Town and Country, being driven by a 66-year-old Cassville man, struck each other in the side, causing the Jeep travel of the roadway and overturn, ejecting the driver.

The Jeep driver was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville, where he was pronounced dead by Dr. Hartman at 9:36 p.m. He was then transported to Fohn Funeral Home.

The Chrysler driver suffered moderate injuries and was transported to Mercy Hospital in Cassville.

The Chrysler driver was wearing a safety device, and the Jeep driver was not. The Chrysler sustained minor damage, and the Jeep was totaled.

This is the 51st fatality of the year for Troop D of the Patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
