Seniors cast lines at ‘First Hole’

About 15 residents of Aspire Senior Living Roaring River, in Cassville, were treated to an outing to Roaring River State Park on March 31, where they enjoyed fishing and a picnic lunch. According to Aspire activities director, Lindsay Harris, they were accompanied to the park by six employees of the residential care facility. The Missouri Department of Conservations’ (MDC) “First Hole” program provided fishing license and tag-waivers for the nursing home residents, plus the poles and tackle used for fishing. According to Roaring River Hatchery Manager, Brad Farwell, the First Hole program is available for special groups, including children ages 15-and-under, people with disabilities, veterans, and residents of senior living facilities. For more information about the program, people may contact Farwell at 417-847-2430, extension 1932. Contributed photos
