Sharon Kay Lombard

Sharon Kay Lombard, age 86, of Wheaton, Missouri passed away on Wednesday December 24, 2025 in Monett, Missouri.

Kay Stewart, better known as Nanan by family and friends, was born on August 18, 1939, in Stella, Missouri to Tom and Ava Stewart. On December 21, 1957, she was united in marriage to Bob Lombard and had a beautiful marriage of 59 years.

Surviving are one son, Lindy Lombard and his wife Debbie of Wheaton; two grandsons, Stuart Lombard and Brittany Pinnell of Wheaton and Taylor Lombard and his wife Kerstin of Republic. She is also survived by her great grandchildren, Maliah Lombard, Brix Lombard, Louise Maddox, Ava Lombard, Carter Lombard, and Bentley Pinnell.

Preceding her in death were her parents and husband, Bob.

Kay graduated from Wheaton High School in 1957. She worked at the Wheaton Journal for several years and worked with her husband Bob at Shelter Insurance in Wheaton for 42 years until their retirement in 2002. Kay was alongside Bob in his 62 years with the Wheaton Volunteer Fire Department and was one of the department’s biggest and most loyal supporters until her passing. She always called the guys on the department “her boys” and always made sure Lindy kept her updated on new volunteers and their radio badge numbers so she could know who was on the scanner.

Kay volunteered throughout the years in many organizations including the Wheaton Senior Citizens, Wheaton Housing Authority, Wheaton School Booster Club, Barry County Meals on Wheels, Newtonia Battlefield Quilters Guild, and Canasta Sisterhood. She was a loyal and active member of the Wheaton United Methodist Church for over 70 years.

Services were held at 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, December 30, 2025 at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Reverend Bob Howard and Reverend Roger McKee  conducted the services. Burial will be at Muncie Chapel Cemetery in Wheaton, Missouri.

The family received friends from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Monday at McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.

Contributions may be made to Wheaton United Methodist Church Memorial Fund in memory of Kay.
