100+ Women third quarter meeting on Thursday
The 100+Women of Barry and Lawrence Counties will meet on Thursday, Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. at the Barry-Lawrence Regional Library, located at 213 6th St. in Monett. Social hour is from 6-7 p.m., and at 7 p.m., voting members can nominate a charity from Barry or Lawrence counties to receive third-quarter meeting funds.
Monett Golf Tournament Friday
The 20th Annual Monett Golf Tournament will be held on Friday, Aug. 8 at 10 a.m. at Windmill Ridge Golf Course. The event supports the annual operations of the Children’s Center of Southwest Missouri in Monett. People and teams may register at https://www.childrens-center.org/events/, or on the day of the event beginning at 8:30 a.m. Players will tee off at 10 a.m., and awards will be at about 2 p.m.
Monett Kids Triathlon Saturday
The Monett Kids Triathlon will be held Saturday, Aug. 9 at 8 a.m. at 115 S. Lincoln Ave. in Monett. Open to youth ages 6-15, the event, hosted by the Monett Area YMCA, features swimming, biking and running, with distances adjusted for age. Each participant will receive race memorabilia. The cost is $45 per child, and people may register their children at https://tinyurl.com/ms43kdsh.
Blood Drive at New Site on Aug. 11
The American Red Cross will host a Monett area Blood Drive on Monday, Aug. 11 at the New Site Baptist Church Fellowship Hall, located at 1925 Farm Road 1060 in Monett. People may call 1-800-733-2767 or visit redcrossblood.org and enter “MONETT” to make an appointment. All donors will receive a commemorative St. Louis Cardinals Blood Drive T-shirt while supplies last.
Monett Nazarene Church hosting Resource Fair
Monett Nazarene Church, locates at 2141 Hwy. 37, will host a Community Day Resource Fair on Thursday, Aug. 14, from 5-7 p.m. Attendees can access free childcare, a free dinner, free legal consultation, free disability consultation and other free resources.
Grief group meets Aug. 14
The Circle, a grief group for all stages of grief, will meet from 6-7 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 14 at Monett Nazarene Church, located at 2142 Hwy. 37 in Monett (across from race Brothers, turn in Farm Pro parking lot). The Circle is a safe, welcoming space for all belief systems and backgrounds to share, listen and begin healing what hurts. The group is open to ages 16-and-over. There is no cost or registration. A free dinner will be from 5-7 p.m., and free childcare is available from 5-7 p.m.
TBI Awareness night for Monett child Aug. 23
Luke’s Fight: TBI Awareness Night, will be held on Saturday, Aug. 23 from 6 p.m. to nightfall at Baldwin Park, located at 1135 N. Eagle Road in Aurora. Luke, a Monett resident, suffered a traumatic brain injury and multiple serious injuries on June 118 in an accident. He continues to fight through intensive therapy and recovery. The event will feature live music, educational booths, food trucks, fundraising booths, raffles, a slient auction, hero recognition and fireworks show. Wild Game Feed classes in September
The Southwest Missouri Wild Game Feed will host a hunter education skills class from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 13, at the Tom Wolfe Memorial VFW Post, located at 5400 Hwy. 60, west of Monett. The Missouri Hunter Education skills session is the second part of the hunter education certification process after completing one of the knowledge-based options. Students must be at least 11 years old to attend. Andrew Rhodes will be the instructor. Online registration is available. For more information, people can call the Post at 417-235-8394.
