Illa Mae Hickam, 74, of Granby, Mo. passed away Saturday, July 4, 2026 at her home.

She was born May 15, 1952 in San Diego, Calif., the daughter of Illo Powell, Jr. and Kathryn (Ellis) Powell who preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one brother, Illo Powell, III.

Survivors include her three sisters, Kay Baker of Georgetown, Texas, Kathy Minton of Liverpool, N.Y., and Kriss Hickman of Granby, Mo. and several nieces and nephews.

She grew up in San Diego, Calif., graduating from Kearney High School in San Deigo, Calif. She worked for many years as an over-the-road truck driver. Eight years ago, she moved to Granby from Joplin, Mo. She was of the Christian faith. 

Private services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton.
