Don Francis King

Don Francis King, 88, of Cassville, Mo. passed away Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at Mercy Hospital Cassville.

He was born June 14, 1937 in Columbia, Mo., the son of Gordon and Frances (Yahns) King. 

Survivors include his wife, Signe Vollenweider;his son, Christopher King of Kansas City, Mo.; daughter Tia Ferrell and her husband Steve of Olathe, Kan.; stepsons Mark Vollenweider and wife Melissa of Cassville, and David Vollenweider and wife Christine of St. Louis, Mo.; sister, Sarah Sue Landau and husband Darrel of Tucson, Ariz.; 14 grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. 

He was preceded in death by one step-daughter and one grandson.

He grew up and attended school in Columbia, Mo., graduating from Columbia Hickman High School. He later attended Washington University in St. Louis, Mo., where he earned a Bachelor of Business Administration. He was employed as a service manager for Ford dealerships in Paola, Kan., and Gladstone, Mo., as well as two other dealerships in the Kansas City area. He had made his home in Cassville since 2009, after moving from Lenexa, Kan.

He was a member of the United Methodist Church in Cassville, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, Mensa, Sertoma in Kansas City, Mo. and an original charter member of the Overland Park, Kan. chapter. He served on various boards and community groups including the Southwest Mo. Rural Water Board.

A private memorial service will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville
