Chloe Gibbons, 92, of Shell Knob, Mo., passed away Thursday, March 12, 2026, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

She was born September 16, 1933, in Cape Girardeau, Mo., to Elmore and Neva (Ford) Kassel, who preceded her in death. 

Also preceding her in death by her husband, John E. Gibbons, and one brother EW Kassel.

She was a member of Central Community Methodist Church in Shell Knob. 

She was a retired schoolteacher and a former resort owner. 

She participated in many solar car races across America, and helped handle the fish at the Homer Sloan Bass Tournament, danced with the Table Rockettes line dancers, and worked the boat shows for the Shell Knob Chamber for many years.

Survivors include three sons, Dirk Dietz and his wife Janice of O’Fallon, Mo., Drew Dietz and his wife Melinda of Jackson, Mo., and Drake Dietz and his wife Denise of Bloomington, Minn.; six grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and one sister, Ruth Jean Lange of Jackson, Mo.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, March 21, 2026, at Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob, Mo. at 4:00 pm with Pastor Bill Kenagy. A visitation will be held one hour prior to service.

Memorials may be made to the United Methodist Church Food Pantry in Shell Knob and entrusted to White Funeral Home and Crematory.
