Single-vehicle wreck on Saturday in Golden

A woman was killed and a man seriously injured in a wreck at 12:57 p.m. Saturday on Highway 86 in Golden.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 45-year-old male, of Eagle Rock, was driving a 2004 Jeep Wrangler westbound when his vehicle crossed over the center line, then overcorrected and went off the right side of the roadway and overturned.

A passenger in the vehicle, a 74-year-old female, of Shell Knob, was pronounced dead at the scene by Barry County Coroner Gary Swearingen at 2:40 p.m. 

The driver suffered serious injuries and was flown to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Neither of the occupants were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.

This is the 127th fatality of the year for Troop D of the patrol, which covers 18 counties in southwest Missouri, including Barry.
