Ruth Etta Buchner

Ruth Etta Buchner, age 95, of Eagle Rock, Mo., passed away on Monday, October 20, 2025, at Cox Monett in Monett, Mo.
She was born in Pierce City, Mo., on Sunday, August 10, 1930; daughter of Arthur and Rebecca (Hadley) Murray. She obtained an associate’s degree from Christian College in Columbia. Ruth married Edward Buchner on Sunday, August 20, 1950, in Pierce City, Mo. Mrs. Buchner worked as a soda jerk at Stotts Pharmacy, a teacher in a one-room schoolhouse in Seligman, and a para-legal in Chicago. She was always involved in social organizations and church groups. She participated in many community service activities.
Mrs. Buchner went door-to-door for the Republican party the year Nixon was elected as President, was the Regional Coordinator for March of Dimes in Iowa and was co-founder/chairwoman of a clinic to provide healthcare for low-income people in Chicago Heights. She was a member of All Faith United Methodist Church in Eagle Rock, Mo., where she was active in the church and choir for many years.
She and her husband, Edward, Moved often but she always found a way to be involved in service organizations that helped others. She also found joy when participating in activities with others. She was in a book club in Eagle Rock and was a part of the bridge club, which was a group of ladies who enjoyed doing things together.
She liked baking cakes and spending time with family. She impacted many lives. Surviving are the following: one son, William “Bill” Arthur Buchner and wife, Kendra, of Eagle Rock, Mo.; five grandchildren, Edward (Cari) Buchner, Miranda (Kirby) Haaby, Zachery (Jamie) Steiner, Ali Steiner, and Abby (Gonzalo) Contreras; and four great-grandchildren, William Buchner, Kaylan Marler, Calvin Buchner, and Sydney Haaby.
Mrs. Buchner was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Buchner; daughter, Rebecca Steiner and husband, Robert; parents, Arthur and Rebecca Murray; and a brother, Arthur Robert “Bob” Murray and wife, Phyllis.
Graveside services were at Pierce City Cemetery on Sunday, October 26, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM with Pastor Bill Kenagy officiating. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Lakin Funeral Home in Pierce City, Mo.
