Child injured in Hwy. 248 wreck 

Vehicle goes off roadway, hits tree, fence, sign

A Jenkins child was injured in a wreck at 8:03 a.m. on Sept. 19 on Highway 248, three miles east of Cassville.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 17-year-old male, of Jenkins, was driving a 2008 Dodge Challenger westbound when his vehicle traveled off the right side of the roadway and struck a tree, fence and sign.

The teenager was not injured, but a passenger, a 7-year-old female, of Jenkins, suffered serious injuries and was transported by helicopter to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Both occupants were wearing safety devices, and the vehicle was totaled.
