Seligman man drowns in Table Rock Lake in Arkansas

A Seligman man drowned in Carroll County, Ark., on July 20.

According to a Carroll County Sheriff’s Office press release, authorities received a call of a possible drowning at about 5:31 p.m. on July 20 in Beaver Town near the campground.

Officers arrived on the scene and were advised Marvin Stephens, 30, of Seligman, had attempted to swim out to the old train bridge but did not make it back to shore.

The Mennonite Search and Rescue team, Benton County Dive Team, Office of Emergency Management and Holiday Island Fire Department were then dispatched to the scene. Once on scene, the Mennonite team deployed their underwater sonar and were able to locate Stephens a short time later.

Beaver is on the western edge of Table Rock Lake, and Beaver Bridge is a landmark in the area.
