Gary Joe Burdett

Gary Joe Burdett (Joe), 73, passed away Friday, June 13, 2025 at his home in Greenfield, Mo.

Born on September 17, 1951 in Exeter, Mo., the son of LeRoy and Bessie (Hilburn) Burdett, who preceded him in death.

Also preceding him in death was his wife Peggy Rae Woodruff; grandson, Aden; sister, Ursela and half-sister, Mary.

Survivors include one son, Jay Burdett and his wife Liz of Aurora, Mo.; one daughter, Angela Edwards and her husband Paul of Stockton, Mo.; seven sisters, Judy Stockton of Greenfield, Mo., Jenie Flicie of Cassville, Mo., Janice Still of Exeter, Mo., Brenda Taylor and her husband Tim of Philomath, Ore., and Barbara Upchurch and her husband Alan of Collinsville, Okla.; eight grandchildren and thirteen great-grandchildren.

His formative years were spent in Greenfield, where he attended Exeter High School. Upon graduation, he answered the call of duty by serving in the United States Army during the Vietnam War, a time that would shape his character and instill in him a deep sense of patriotism. Following his military service, Joe returned to his roots and embarked on a lifelong career as an automobile mechanic.

Graveside services will be held at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, June 19, 2025 at Russell Cemetery in Butterfield, Mo. under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Rick Cooper will be conducting the services.
