Max Stumpff

Max Stumpff, 80, of Cassville, Mo. passed away peacefully at Circle of Life in Bentonville, Ark., Friday, June 6, 2025.

He was born August 5, 1944, in Cato, Mo., to Donald Mylone and Barbara “June” (Blankenship) Stumpff.

He spent his early years in Cato, Mo. Later he moved to Cassville, Mo. with his family. As a young teenager he was saved and baptized in the waters of Flat Creek.

He and Yvonne made their home in Springfield, Mo. returning to Cassville so the girls could attend Cassville High School from where he graduated with the CHS class of 1962 serving as senior class president and president of the student body. He continued his education at Southwest Mo. State University earning a degree in animal science. He retired from the Springfield – Greene County Health Department after 36 years in milk control enforcement. He served as president of Mo. Dairy Fieldman & Sanitation Association. He received the 1988 Mo. State Fair Family Award and was president of the Barry County University of Missouri Extension Council. He received the Distinguished Service Award from the Mo. Milk, Food and Environmental Health Association.

He was a member of the Corinth Baptist Church. He was a Sunday school teacher, chairman of the building committee, pastor’s search committee and usher for many years.

Survivors include his wife, Yvonne Stumpff; one daughter, Tonya Sanders and her husband Charles of Gravette, Ark.; one granddaughter, and three grandsons; six great grandchildren, and one to arrive soon; one brother, Roger Stumpff and his wife Gaye of Cassville, Mo.; two aunts, Bonnie Ragain and Alice Stumpff; one uncle, J.R. Redding and several nephews, nieces and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tricia Vaught; his parents; brother, Rex Stumpff and niece, Sunni Stumpff.

Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, June 16, 2025 at Corinth Baptist Church in Cassville under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Jerry Nickle and Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Mo.
