James Wesley Atkinson

tkinson JamesWesleyAtkinson, 93, of Washburn, Mo. passed away Monday, December 18, 2023, at Aurora Nursing Center in Aurora, Mo.

He was born August 2, 1930, in Webb City, Ark., the son of William Frank and Goldie Lee (Gantt) Atkinson. Survivors include his wife, Dolores Mae Carroll; six children, Rickey Atkinson and his wife Linda of Pea Ridge, Ark., Vicki Vinson of Pensacola, Fla., Kenyon Atkinson and his wife Carol of Cassville, Mo., Lisa Rataczak and her husband William of Pineville, Mo., Aaron Atkinson of Washburn, Mo. and Teresa Schwellinger of Washburn, Mo.; one brother, Eugene Atkinson and his wife Maxine of Garden City, Kan.; 34 grandchildren and 18 great-grandchildren.

Preceding him in death were his parents; one son, Clay Atkinson; two sisters and three brothers.

He attended school in Springdale, Ark. graduating from Pilgrim’s Rest School. After graduation he enlisted in the United States Army serving from August 4, 1954, until July 18, 1956. He owned and operated the former Jim’s Automotive in Washburn, Mo. for several years.

He was a member of Jehovah’s Witnesses Congregation.

Memorial services will be held at a later date. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
