Wheaton Class of 1973 meeting Aug. 26 at BBQ

The Wheaton High School Class of 1973 invites family, friends, former classmates and neighbors to stop in the shade by Railroad Depot Museum, located at 311 Main St., during 65th Annual Wheaton BBQ. Plans are flexible and will be determined by those there. The group aims to to be there from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. For more information, people may contact Ron Renkoski at 608-242-7321.

Dispensary hosting school supply drive

The Cassville Dispensary is hosting a school supply drive in cooperation with the OACAC Barry County Neighborhood Center. The Dispensary will match item-for-item and dollar- for-dollar, and every donation of $5 or school supply drop-off qualifies for one entry into a $100 gift certificate giveaway. The drive ends on Tuesday. All proceeds benefit the Neighborhood Center. “They are going above and beyond to help out by getting us money and school supplies for our families in need,” said Kimberly Healey, Neighborhood Center supervisor. “We are so blessed to have them in our community helping families the way they are. We just wanted to thank them.”

Lawrence and Barry County Democrats to meet

The regular monthly meeting of the Lawrence and Barry County Democrats will be held on Thursday at the Angus Branch Steakhouse, located at 114 Chapel Drive in Monett. The meeting will start at 7 p.m. Those wishing to eat should arrive by 5:45 p.m., with each responsible for their own meal. All area Democrats and like minded friends are invited to attend as the group plans and prepares for summer and fall events.

Exeter elementary hosting screenings

The Exeter school district’s summer screening for Pre-K and Kindergarten will be on Thursday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Please call the school to schedule at 417-835-2922, ext 5. Please note that summer hours are in effect, so continue to call if a receptionist is not immediately reached. Pre-K students should be turning 4 before Aug. 1, 2023. Kindergarten students should be turning 5 before Aug. 1, 2023. The following items will be needed to complete enrollment: Proof of residency in the district, birth certificate and immunization record.

Cassville Farmers’ Market open

The Cassville Farmers’ Market is open for the season, running twice a week on Tuesdays from 4-7 p.m. across from Security Bank and Saturdays on the Cassville Square from 8 a.m. to noon. The market offers local fresh cut flowers, produce, eggs, baked goods, hand made crafts and more. For more information, people may call 417-846-3539.

Cassville Branch Library events scheduled

Activities at the Cassville Branch Library this week include: Today (Wednesday), Chair Exercise at 9 a.m. (adults), Crochet with Ashlyn, 1:30 p.m. (teens/adults); Thursday, Summer Reading Pool Party at 7 p.m. (all ages), pick up admission ticket at Library, Toastmasters at 6 p.m. (adults); Friday, Chair Exercise at 9 a.m. (adults), Video Games/Laser Tag from 5:308:30 p.m. (ages 12-18), sign-up required.

Zone 4 hosting ‘Ozarks Got Talent’

Zone 4 Mini Golf & More in Cassville will host the inaugural “Ozarks Got Talent” talent show on Saturday at the facility’s amphitheater. Zone 4 is located at 16007 State Highway 76 in Cassville.

Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market open

The Old Church Gallery Farmers’ Market runs every Thursday from 8-11 a.m. The Market offers fresh produce, eggs, jellies, relishes, baked goods, cut flowers, handmade crafts and more. OATS rides available in Barry County

OATS Transit offers regular transportation services for the rural general public of any age, seniors, and individuals with disabilities. Please call the local OATS Transit office at 417-8879272 or 800-770-6287 to schedule a ride or find out about services in the Barry County area. People may also visit the OATS website at oatstransit.org to view local schedules under “Bus Schedules,” then click on the county of service. OATS offices will be closed, and regular routes will not be running on Feb. 20 for Presidents’ Day. Please keep this in mind as trips are scheduled near these holidays. OATS Transit is hiring drivers statewide to can continue serving riders. Openings are listed on the OATS website.

Seligman dances ongoing each Saturday

The Seligman Chamber of Commerce country dances at the Seligman Chamber Event Center are every Saturday from 7-10 p.m. No alcohol is allowed. Admission is $10 per person, and 18-and-under are free. There is a potluck, 50-50 drawing and door prizes. For more information, people may call 479-9033640.
