Purdy seeks new attorney

BY MIKE GERVAIS

Purdy is in the market for a new city attorney following the election of longtime attorney Darlene Parrigon as Lawrence County’s prosecuting attorney.

City leaders on Aug. 16 voted to issue a request for quotes, seeking interested parties who may be willing and able to serve as legal council for the city.

Purdy City Attorney Katie Prock said the city council is scheduled to review those quotes and interview possible attorneys at its October meeting.

Purdy also approved its tax rate for the coming year.

Last year’s assessed valuation for the city was recorded at $5,135,424 and the tax rate ceiling was set at $0.4130.

This year’s assessed valuation is slightly higher at $5,135,424 and the city council voted to keep the tax rate the same at $0.4130.
