May 17, 1972

Two Cassville High School grads will now become faculty members, according to Superintendent James Ford. In the home economics department, Ann Maloney will be filling the vacancy of Joan Biles, and in the music department, Charles Kellim will be replacing Billy Windes. Cassville’s Summer Youth Recreation Commission

Cassville’s Summer Youth Recreation Commission will have the following officers in charge this year. They include: Bob Casteel, president; Don Carr, vice president; Bobbie Marshall, treasurer and Alicia Marshall, secretary.

Twenty-four eighth-graders graduating from the three remaining Barry County rural schools, Jenkins, Shell Knob and Golden, were promoted to high school Tuesday morning in exercises held at the Cassville First Baptist Church. The program was sponsored by the Barry County Teachers Association.

The rural home of Mr. and Mrs. Rex Stumpff west of Cassville was completely destroyed by fire this week. The Stumpff family was not at home at the time.

May 12 1982

Exeter High School Commencement will be held May 18, according to Superintendent Dr. Calvin Baker. Graduating at the top of the 27-member class will be Gina Bennett, valedictorian, and Robin Callaway, salutatorian.

Cassville High School will be graduating 84 seniors this year, according to Principal Jerry Marple. Commencement addresses will be given by Joe Horner, valedictorian and Editza Miller, salutatorian.

Jerry Varner, a freshman at Southwest School, is the new Missouri State Champion in humorous interpretation. He was competing against 35 other school districts at the Missouri State Speech Festival held at the University of Missouri, Columbia. Jack Farrow is the Southwest drama coach.

Nancy Allison, a sophomore at Southwest Missouri State University, was chosen Wells Independent Government’s 1981-82 “Woman of the Year.” Miss Allison has served as president of Wells dormitory during the 1981-82 academic year. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Allison, of Cassville.

May 6, 1992

Cassville High School Business Department received the first-place award in computer knowledge during business department competition last week. The CHS team included Andy Sinclair-Hall, Chris Nickle and Jackie Dyer.

Cassville School Board presented a $3,000 scholarship to Karen Rosewicz, who presently teaches language arts at Cassville Middle School. Mrs. Rosewicz plans to further her education with the award to obtain a master’s degree.

Cassville High School Principal Ron Richardson said there would be 96 seniors graduating this coming week. Diplomas will be presented by Tim Frye, board president.
