Spring cleaning opportunities coming to locals

It’s that time of year again — yard sale season.

Each spring, local communities set dates for city wide yard sales and city wide cleanup to aid in the spring cleaning activities.

Cassville

The city of Cassville does not have a city wide yard sale date, but the city wide cleanup will be the week of May 16, on normally scheduled service days. This is for residents inside city limits.

Curbside pick-up will not accept large remodeling projects or construction, all small items must bagged or boxed and not exceed 50 pounds. Items not accepted include, tires, large room carpet, hot tubs, propane tanks, appliances, rocks, bricks, concrete, fluorescent/CFL/HID bulbs, hazardous waste, brush, limbs, yard waste, fencing, bulk liquids, batteries, vehicles or large engine parts.

There is a limit one mattress or large furniture item per residence.

No apartments, businesses or vacant homes will be included in the city wide cleanup. The city of Cassville uses Republic Services.

Wheaton

The city of Wheaton cleanup date is scheduled for May 31. Wheaton will be using Stanphill Sanitation to pick up on May 31, and city workers will pickup lumber the following week.

Items that will not be accepted include, oils, tires, paint, chemicals, and yard waste. All items must be separated into individual piles near the road. Different people will pick up different materials, like lumber, metals and trash.

Washburn

The city of Washburn will have its city wide yard sale on June 3 and 4. The city hall has free yard sale permits. The city wide cleanup is June 8. Washburn will use Republic Services, who will accept normal garbage, furniture, rolled and tied carpeting that is cut into 4-foot lengths, and appliances that do not contain refrigerants.

They cannot take, demolition materials, liquids (including waste oil or paint), tree limbs greater than 2 inches in diameter and 4 feet in length, or concrete laundry tubs.

Seligman

The city of Seligman will have the city wide yard sale on the first Saturday in May, and the city wide cleanup will be the second Saturday in May.

Items that will not be accepted include, tires, batteries, and paint cans. Cleanup starts at 8 a.m. and will continue until the roll off dumpsters are full.

Exeter

The city of Exeter will have its city wide yard sale on May 7. The sign up sheet is inside city hall, people may also call city hall to be put on the list.

The city wide cleanup is on regular scheduled service days during the weeks of May 10. This is for residents inside city limits.

MARCK Community Recycling program

MARCK Industries will be offering a drop off community recycling program beginning May 7, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and will be every other Saturday.
