Cassville saw 16 of its boys and girls track and field athletes medal at the Big 8 Conference Meet, and the teams are now focused on the stair steps to state. Nine Wildcats and seven Lady Wildcats earned All-Conference status in Monett on May 2, and the boys set a new school record in the 4x400 relay.

The Southwest baseball team (11-10) are on a sixgame win streak after going a perfect 3-0 at the Miller Invitational last week, besting Greenfield, 17-0; Sarcoxie, 3-2 in 10 innings; and Miller, 3-0. Against Sarcoxie, Brendyn Paulsen had the walk-off in the 10th after three scoreless innings.

The Cassville Middle School Track team traveled to Marshfield on April 29 to compete in the Big 8 Junior High Track meet. Two competitors set Big 8 records, with Logan Parsons clearing 9’3.5” in Pole vault, and Brylee Gross running the 200 in 27.9 seconds.

The first annual Big 8 Pickleball Tournament was held at the Monett City Park on Saturday. Fifty-six students and staff from five Big 8 districts competed in four tournaments.

Three senior Cassville boys athletes signed letters of intent on April 26 to continue their careers in college, one in cross country and track, a second in rugby, and a third in wrestling. Caleb Leach, Class 3 cross country state medalist and new school record-holder in the 3200-meter, penned his name with the University of Missouri-St.

Former Cassville basketball and softball coach Randy Robertson, front row, second from left, was inducted into the Missouri Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame Class of 2023.
