Forest Service responds to wildfire south of Cassville
Forest Service firefighters are responding to a wildfire, designated the 1039 Fire, burning on the Mark Twain National Forest in an area about 12 miles south of Cassville and about 6 miles northeast of Seligman.

Fire district tax passes
Voters have approved a 1/2-cent sales tax for the Cassville Volunteer Fire Protection District, an election result Chief Derek Acheson said signified the direction residents want the District to take regarding its services.
House fire caused by playing with lighter
A home was heavily damaged on Nov. 1 following a house fire that started with a juvenile and a lighter.
Major library renovations planned in Barry County
Major renovations on two Barry County libraries, including the Cassville Branch Library, have been planned for the months ahead and will require closings.

Merry Christmas candidates announced
Cassville High School has announced the 2025 Merry Christmas candidates. The students are currently collecting financial donations that will support the Share Your Christmas program. Share Your Christmas is a community initiative that helps ensure children under the age of 18 get to experience the joy of Christmas. The two students who raise the most funds for Share Your Christmas will be crowned Christmas royalty. Students are collecting money through Dec. 15. Merry Christmas royalty will be crowned during the CHS Christmas Assembly on Dec. 19.
