Barry County sales taxes see solid gains in July
Sales tax receipts for the seven Barry County cities and the county government entities saw solid gains in July, though two cities ended up marginally lower than a year ago.

County Commission has tank concerns
On July 27, the Barry County Commission adopted a written Resolution highlighting concerns the commission has about a pending operational permit for an industrial food and meat-processing-residuals storage tank to be constructed in the county.

The Barry County Sheriff's Office hosted a public press conference on Tuesday to discuss details of the murder of Justin Hocutt, as the Office made three arrests in the cold case last week.

Pollution, industrial ag decried at meeting
More than 50 people attended a public meeting on July 19 at the Scott Regional Technology Center in Monett to hear a variety of state leaders and experts discuss environmental threats they perceive stemming from concentrated animal feeding operations (CAFOs), data centers and sludge tanks proposed in southwest Missouri.
