50 YEARS AGO: RAINS FLUSH CREEK, CAUSE CAVE-IN — Much welcome rains, measuring up to six inches in some areas, produced many a smile in the county since it began last Friday.

Thayer is an American Staffordshire Mixed Breed. His date of birth is Sept. 1, 2025. Thayer and his siblings were abandoned but they deserve to find loving homes.

Seniors cast lines at ‘First Hole’
About 15 residents of Aspire Senior Living Roaring River, in Cassville, were treated to an outing to Roaring River State Park on March 31, where they enjoyed fishing and a picnic lunch. According to Aspire activities director, Lindsay Harris, they were accompanied to the park by six employees of the residential care facility.

Haven of the Ozarks Pet of the Week, April 8
Ruger is such a good boy! He is a Hound mixed breed born March 30, 2022. He is good with dogs, cats and kids. He also knows basic training commands. Adopters can complete an application at www.havenoftheozarks.org/adopt. No appointment is needed. The Haven is open from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., seven days a week. 40 YEARS AGO: CURRY FAMILY POSTMASTERS — Willis Curry's retirement at the end of the month as postmaster at Eagle Rock ends a family era. His mother, Jean, served 45 years and six months in the post.

His House Foundation, located in Shell Knob, recently received a Strengthening Our Network Grant thanks to Ozarks Food Harvest’s $1 million investment in agency infrastructure in southwest Missouri.
Arvest Bank’s Million Meals Campaign Returns for 16th Year
Arvest Bank has officially launched the 16th year of its annual Million Meals campaign, a two-month effort to raise awareness and funds to fight hunger in Missouri, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Kansas.

Stouder receives Silver Beaver Award
Don Stouder, of Cassville, received the Silver Beaver Award from the Ozarks Trails Council of Scouting America at the annual Council Recognition Banquet held on March 14 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church in Springfield.

— 30 YEARS AGO: A boost for computer literacy— Money raised through a Cassville P.T.A. fundraiser was used to purchase eight Power Macintosh personal computers and software for the elementary library.
