Mava Belle Writer, 78, of Cassville, Mo. passed away Friday, February 27, 2026 at her home.

She was born October 14, 1947 in Kingston, Ark., the daughter of Johnny and Edna (Norris) Randall, who preceded her in death. 

Also preceding her in death were her sisters, Gwendolyn Randall and Faye Moore.

Survivors include her husband Verlon Eugene “Gene” Writer; her son, Doug Writer and wife Sandy of Cassville; daughter, Mandy Barnes and husband Eric of Cassville; sister, Joyce Darby of Berryville, Ark.; six grandchildren, and two great grandchildren.

She graduated from Cassville High School and later continued her education, earning an associate degree. She worked for many years as an LPN at South Barry County Hospital and FASCO Industries in Cassville. She was a member of Corinth Baptist Church.

Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Thursday, March 5, 2026, at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Pastor Donnie Spears will conduct the services. Burial will be at Corinth Cemetery in Cassville, Mo.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 7:00 P.M. Wednesday at Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville.
