Nancy Mureil (Painter) Lopez, 82, of Golden, Mo., passed away peacefully on Monday, February 9, 2026, at her home.

She was born on January 5, 1944, in Kansas City, Mo., the daughter of Glenn E. and Frances (Mott) Painter, who preceded her in death. 

Also preceding her in death are her daughter, Rebecca Lopez; her siblings, Glenda, Donna, and Norman; and her stepmother, Zella.

Survivors include her son, Joe Lopez of Albuquerque, N. M.; two daughters, Michelle Lopez of Lake of the Ozarks, Mo., and Jennifer Lopez of Golden, Mo.; one brother, Dean Painter, and his wife, Betty, of Fayetteville, Ark., along with her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.

She graduated from high school in Albuquerque, N.M., then she embarked on a career as a heavy equipment operator. For a decade, her strength and determination shone through as she excelled in a field dominated by men.

A celebration of life to honor Nancy was held on

Sunday, February 15, 2026, at a family friend’s home. Cremation arrangements are under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville, Mo.
