Shirley Faye Smith, 84, of Exeter, Mo. passed away Monday, December 1, 2025, at Freeman Hospital West in Joplin, Mo.

She was born December 7, 1940, in Eureka Springs, Ark., the daughter of Orval and Bertha (Bohannan) Plouch, who preceded her in death. 

Also preceding her in death was her husband, 

James “J.I.” Smith, and an infant son, Stephen James Smith.

Survivors include her son, Mark Smith and wife Marcy of Wheaton, Mo.; daughters, Charree Kelly and husband Jim of Wheaton, Mo. and Donna Musick and husband Jeff of Purdy, Mo.; sister, Kay Kelley of Eureka Springs, Arkansas; ten grandchildren and fourteen great grandchildren.

She grew up and attended school in Eureka Springs, Ark., graduating from Eureka Springs High School as the salutatorian with the class of 1958. 

She dedicated several years to FASCO Industries in Cassville from where she retired in 2007. 

She was of the Baptist faith.

Graveside services were held Friday, December 5, 2025 at Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter, Mo., under direction of McQueen Funeral Home in Wheaton. Pastor Paul Wahlert conducted the services.
