Captain Ronal (Ron) Hall

It is with deep sorrow and sadness that we announce the death of Captain Ronal (Ron) Hall on September 13, 2025, at the age of sixty-nine following a courageous one-year battle with pancreatic cancer. Ron loved his family, friends, and life itself as shown through the strength and resilience he displayed in his fight to stay with us.

Ron was born in St. Louis, MO on May 15, 1956, and was adopted shortly thereafter by Donal and Wilma (Mizer) Hall both of whom preceded him in death. He graduated from Cassville High School in 1974 and married Vickie Houston in 1976 and to this union two children were born, Ryan Hall and Taryn (Dan) Bergin, both of whom survive. In 2003, Ron married Jennifer Andersen, who survives. Other survivors include stepson Tyler Andersen, grandson Jay Hall, granddaughter Kacey Hall, sister Cindy Bonner, niece Tori Land and nephew Nick Bonner.

Ron had a generous and charitable spirit and, among other acts of service, was a volunteer with Sol Relief, donating his time and resources to help in various ways during disasters such as hurricanes and transporting doctors and nurses to deliver Covid -19 vaccines and injections to the out islands of the Bahamas. Ron volunteered with Civil Reserve Air Fleet to aid with Operation Iraqi Freedom in 2003, was a Federal Flight Deck Officer and Chairman of Jumpseat Committee for US Airways.

Ron was born with curiosity and an insatiable desire for knowledge. He played trumpet throughout high school in band, stage band and honor band and went to College of the Ozarks on a music scholarship. He was an excellent photographer; he had a black belt in Taekwondo; he was a PADI certified scuba diver; and he was a licensed ham radio operator. If Ron was not in the sky, he was on the water as his love for sailing was boundless and he was known to take off in his sailboat and be gone for weeks at a time often visiting the Bahama Islands.

Ron’s home away from home was Madrid, Spain. During his years as an international pilot, he formed meaningful relationships with many people in many countries, but his heart was in Spain. He was eager to learn about diverse cultures and learned to speak Spanish fluently.

Ron began flying in 1975 while attending College of the Ozarks and participating in their aviation program. He worked various jobs while accumulating the flight hours required to earn the certificates and ratings needed. Ron became the owner/ operator of Skywings Aviation which operated out of Aurora Airport in Aurora, MO where he was a flight instructor, charter pilot, and FAA test proctor. After selling Skywings Aviation, Ron became a corporate pilot for Leggett & Platt in Joplin, MO until he accepted a position with Piedmont Airlines, and through mergers and acquisitions, ended up with American Airlines. Ron was an accomplished pilot with a flight career spanning 49 years, logging thousands of flight hours and training hundreds of aspiring pilots. After retiring from American Airlines in 2020, Ron started Ron Hall Aviation out of St. Petersburg and flew private charters.

A celebration of life will be held at 107 8th Ave SE, St. Petersburg, FL 33701 at the Albert Whitted Airport on 10/25/25 at 5:00 PM.
