Dorothy May “Dot” Young, 91, of Mt. Vernon, Mo. passed away Monday, October 12, 2026, at Cox Monett Hospital in Monett, Mo.

She was born in Detroit, Mich., the daughter of Ralph and Mildred (Winslow) Freedline. On May 2, 1970, in Dearborn, Mich., who preceded her in death.

Also preceding her in death were two daughters, Martha and Patricia; two sisters; one brother and two grandsons.

Survivors include her husband, David Eldon Young; her sons, David Young and wife Christina of Mt. Vernon, Mo. and Jeff Young and wife Brooke of Union, Mo.; daughter Ruth Anderson and husband Dave Hathcox of South Gate, Mich.; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

She attended school in Redford, Mich., and worked as a waitress for several years. She and her husband, David, had made their home in Mt. Vernon for the last six years after moving from Pendleton, Ky.

She was a member of the Church of Christ. She will be missed by all who knew and loved her.

Services were Tuesday, October 20, 2026 at Church of Christ in Mt. Vernon, under direction of Fohn Funeral Home in Cassville. Jonathan Zerby conducted the services. Burial was at I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Mt. Vernon, Mo.
