W ormington Cecil Ellis Wormington, 84, of Purdy, Missouri was called to his Heavenly home on Saturday July 26, 2025 while at Lacoba Homes in Monett, Missouri. He was born in Star City, Missouri on March 13, 1941; the son of the late Damon and Ollie Wormington. He was united in marriage on May 29, 1959 in Purdy, Missouri to Katherine Henderson; she survives.

He was retired from the Missouri Division of Family Services and was a cattle rancher. He was also a member of the Macedonia Freewill Baptist Church.

Cecil is survived by his wifeKatherineofthehome; two daughters; Valerie Bennett and her husband Mike of Purdy, Missouri and Angie Wormington of Bentonville, Arkansas; two sisters; Darline Neill and her husband Lee of Purdy, Missouri and Margaret Moller of Verona, Missouri; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Visitation for Cecil was held on Wednesday July 30, 2025 from 6:00p.m. to 8:00p.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri. Funeral services were held on Thursday July 31, 2025 at 11:00a.m. at the Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home in Monett, Missouri with Rev. Lee Neill officiating. Burial will follow services at the Bethel Cemetery outside of Monett, Missouri.

Memorial donations in Cecil’s name may be made to the Purdy Alumni Scholarship Fund or to Hospice Compassus.
